Spending a weekend in Mumbai – Things to do

The city that never sleeps, Mumbai, gives several fun things to do even if visiting over a weekend. A city to hang out and beaches to relax by, one can enjoy the extremities in Mumbai. Mumbai is also the home to fame, glamour and Bollywood. Mumbai has a flavour of all kinds of people which is an experience in itself. The world famous vada pav also hails from Mumbai.

As much as you’d want to spend time in a new place like a local resident would, visiting a few of the sights in Mumbai is something you wouldn’t want to miss out on. There are so many different kinds of places to visit in Mumbai, catering to all types of interest. Shree Sidivinayak Temple in Mumbai is world famous and considered be Mumbai’s holiest place. The Chatrapati Shivaji Terminus, which is the one of the biggest and the most beautiful railway stations in the country, is known for its architectural uniqueness. And, of course, the Gateway of India, which embarks as a landmark not only for Mumbai but also for the whole country. Located in South Mumbai, The Gateway stands by the Arabian Sea. One can also head to the Elephanta caves from here via a ferry. The Taj Mahal Palace is also situated here.

Marine Drive is another world-famous attraction that Mumbai hosts. It is a 3 km long boulevard stretching from Malabar Hills to Nariman Point, along the Arabian Sea. Day or night, people are hustling around the drive all along. With similar stature is the Bandra – Worli sea link which is an eight lane bridge; it is great spot for photography, too. Chowpatty Beach, Juhu Beach, Aksa Beach, Versova Beach, Powai Lake, and Worli Sea Face: all these host beautiful scenic beauty by the Arabian Sea stretch. Thousands of tourists come over to these beaches when in the city. The world famous Essel World and Adlabs Imagica are at reasonable distances from the city, perfect for a family outing along with some adventure rides and experiences. Mumbai is also a shopper’s paradise. From international brands to street side shopping, one can indulge in all kinds of interests.

For all the Bollywood fanatics, Mumbai is great place. There are many tours organised only to take tourists around the city spotting all celebrity houses and famous studios. One can never get bored in Mumbai. So much to do and so much to see, it is a city which ensures to keep you busy with a lot of fun.

Buses to Mumbai can be taken from Delhi, Bangalore, and Hyderabad. Self-drive is a great adventure in itself, making pit stops on the way.

  1. Informative post. There is a railway museum inside the Chatrapati Shivaji Terminus. One can even look the beautiful architecture from inside. They purposely don’t do too much advertise of this museum because their main purpose is to give exposure to architecture students through the guided tour of the museum.
