That day I bumped into Luis… you know who. He was looking a bit down and out and not interested in any interaction with anyone. But after initial hesitation he got came out of his shell and I also got a chance to help him out. Here is an account of that memorable evening.
Me: What are you doing in Delhi, that too in this weather?
Luis: What to do? Wanted to escape to some place where nobody recognizes me. I thought India would be ideal, never met a single player from there. But I was wrong! Everybody is cracking jokes on me here.
Me: Well, you are indeed popular here! Is there anything I can do to help you here?
Luis: Well, I need new shoes. I wasted the last pair when I threw them at a photographer who was chasing my car.
Me: So why don’t you go to the Shop? There is one nearby.
Luis: Can’t go to that mall really, they have banned me after I bit a salesgirl that day… nothing much really, I was just getting a feel of this new country, and they overreacted!
Me: Hmm… I guess the only way for you to shop online as of now.
Luis: I tried that too but there are so many sites, not sure which one to use. Also, I am a bit short on money too. You know I will be out of work for a while.
Me: Why don’t you try Baggout?
Luis: What on earth is that?
Me: You can find the best deals from all other sites out there. Moreover, it gives you extra cashback too.
Luis: So I can have my shoes and still something left for the Hannibal DVDs and a restrained mask?
Me: Yes you can…
Luis: Great but do they have good collection? I do not want to be seen with an outdated pair when I finally move back to my place after four months.
Me: Of course! In fact you can see what others are buying and suggesting. See here… this one has been bought by Wayne. You can try out a different colour.
Luis: Wait, what? Wayne is here too? I heard he had gone to the US as football means something else there.
Me: Actually they too are suddenly warming up to this version of the game. So, he decided to come here. In fact he is hiding nearby and actually had the same misconceptions about India as you. I accidentally met him that day. Now when I think of it, I seem to have been exceptionally lucky of late.
Luis: Well, then let me just get ahead with the shopping. I see some Dracula themed T Shirts too at good prices. I guess I can manage a couple of them. Thanks for your help. I suggest you get going before it is dinner time. You know how things are, don’t you?
A chill ran down through my spine at that moment and I left him to complete his shopping. But I will meet him again, preferably in broad daylight and after his mask is delivered. Let’s see.
